"Also a new tent resides over us as the old one which leaked in a hundred places finally blew down and was condemned. The QM issued us new stuff so there's a lot of new khaki and work clothes to wear back "home" here in the South Pacific. "
"Which reminds me, this guy that was so interested in my mail is from Texas. While on Guam we met a (little boy) kid in our camp who used to like to go to alla the cowboy shows (movies) before the war, and he wanted to meet a real cowboy from the States. Most willing to oblige, we put an old campaign hat and a pistol on the Texas guy and showed him to the kid who says " Hello Mr. Cowboy" and is as excited as a cat."
